Description:

Price by bottle.

Port wines from 1940 are extremely rare. During the Second World War, the main Port wine markets practically disappeared. Many producers abandoned the business, while others drastically reduced their production. Although the 1940 harvest was smaller than normal, it is recorded as a harvest of very high quality grapes. This fabulous wine was bottled after aging in oak casks with wine for almost eighty years. Graham’s 1940 is extraordinarily elegant and balanced, a reflection not only of the quality of the original wine, but also of the expertise and know-how of successive generations of winemakers from the Symington family, owners of Graham’s. Charles Symington, head of the tasting room at Graham’s, selected two of the few remaining casks of 1940 tawny port for this unique and likely unrepeatable release.

Ideal for drinking after meals, alone, enjoying it calmly, as if it were a dessert. However, given its incredible freshness and concentration, it will also pair well with a wide variety of desserts and selected cheeses. Ideally, serve slightly chilled. Once the bottle has been opened, consume within one to two months.
